Cats are generally sensitive to new foods or sudden changes in their usual diet. Therefore, it’s always recommended to diversify their food sources to avoid rejection of new or beneficial foods. For this type of cat, it’s preferable to use one of the following methods for administering imvita in the recommended order:
A) Give half the recommended dose mixed with wet food (specialty food, chicken, tuna, etc.) and not dry food. This allows the cat to gradually get used to this type of food. After 4 or 5 days, add the full dose as usual to their food.
B) If the cat doesn’t tolerate the first method, grind the imvita as usual and mix the entire dose with wet food or a treat. This will lessen the change in diet and help the cat adjust to the imvita quickly. After 3 or 4 days, add the full dose as usual to their food.
C) In very difficult cases with cats that are extremely stubborn about eating any food different from their usual diet, grind the imvita as described above and mix it with half a cup of water. Once dissolved, the solution will be ready for the cat to drink. Administer it using a needle-free syringe through their mouth. The cat will begin to get used to the imvita in their food, and after 3 or 4 days, add the full dose as usual to their food.
